How does Google send the verification code?

The ways Google sends and protects its codes, as its own help pages describe them. Knowing which stop you are at tells you whether to wait, resend or cancel.

  1. Text message

    A text or a call

Google sends a 6-digit code by text, or by voice call if you choose. The text is the step a VSIM number receives.

  2. Push prompt

    Google prompts

Once you are signed in on a phone, Google prefers a Yes or No prompt there instead of a code.

  3. Authenticator

    Authenticator or passkey

An authenticator app, a passkey or a security key works without any phone number.

What is a virtual number for Google?

A virtual number for Google is a real mobile number you rent online to receive one Google verification code by SMS, without a SIM card. On VSIM you choose the country, the number appears on your order page, the code shows up there, and the order closes. If no code arrives before the timer ends, the full price returns to your balance.

Which country is best for Google verification today?

England has the best measured odds right now: 71% of recent orders got the code, for $0.40. In all, 71 countries have a measured Google rate, and 7 of them deliver 50% or more. Odds are refreshed every 15 minutes.

How much does a Google virtual number cost?

Today Google numbers cost from $0.14 to $1.57 across 142 countries, and half of them cost $0.36 or less. You pay only for the number that receives the code: every number that does not is refunded in full.

If failed numbers are refunded, what does a low rate cost me?

Time. Each number waits about 15 minutes for its code. A country that delivers 50% needs two tries on average; one that delivers 5% needs twenty, which can mean hours of waiting. That is why this page ranks countries by odds first and price second.

Why does Google say this phone number cannot be used for verification?

Google limits how many accounts one phone number can create and how often it can verify. When a number reaches that limit, Google refuses it. Google's advice is to use a different number, which with VSIM means cancelling for a refund and taking a fresh one.

How do I keep my Gmail account after the rented number is gone?

Add a second way in straight away: backup codes, a passkey, an authenticator app or a number you own. Google's help centre says recovery without another second step can take 3 to 5 business days.

How many tries does a Google code usually take?

In our own records, 75 buyers ordered Google numbers. 9 got a code on their first order, 10 on their second or third, 9 needed four or more, and 47 never got one. Choosing a country with high odds is the single biggest difference.

What happens if the Google code does not arrive?

The order closes when its timer ends, about 15 minutes in our tests and never more than 20, and the full price returns to your VSIM balance automatically. You can also cancel earlier yourself, as long as no SMS has arrived.

Can I keep the number for Google after the code?

No. A one-code number is released when the order closes, so a later Google code sent to it cannot reach you. If you need a number you keep, see VSIM permanent numbers, or add an email and a password to the account as soon as you are in.
